Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre
The Bimaadiziwin training program is based on Indigenous Peoples’ understandings of health and well-being and their cultural values. It is intended to support employees of the Health Centre as they move along the cultural safety continuum to cultural competency, and includes the Anishinaabe Cultural Training program, a two-day training session focused on learning about traditional perspectives and distinct challenges experienced by First Nations people in northern Ontario, and Culturally Safe Training, a one-day training session focused on learning how one’s own cultural experiences affect their work and strategies for improving cross-cultural relations in the context of patient care.
