Early Child Development Collection

A decolonial, intersectional approach to disrupting whiteness, neoliberalism, and patriarchy in western early childhood education and care

2019

Teasley, C.

Description

This article critiques early childhood education and care (ECEC) as a contested site of cultural transmission and reproduction, as well as a space for resistance and change. The author argues that ECEC contexts perpetuate White privilege and injustices against marginalized populations, and proposes strategies to foster resistance and break systems of hegemonic power and dominant culture within ECEC.
