Description

This article reports findings from a study investigating how urban Indigenous human service organizations have responded to the needs of Indigenous people residing in three small cities in the Interior region of BC, specifically on the challenges they faced in delivering health and social services and facilitating access to mainstream services. The study highlighted fundamental tensions between mainstream and Indigenous service providers' approaches to well-being, and drew implications for future research, policy and practice to promote the development of culturally appropriate and responsive services.
