Description

In this declaration, the IITC expresses concerns about the violation of cultural, environmental and Treaty rights by federal and state/provincial governments during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the rolling back of environmental safeguards and fast tracking of development proposals that have the potential to detrimentally impact Indigenous Peoples’ health and well-being and that they have expressed opposition to. They call for all levels of government to respect Indigenous Peoples’ human rights during this critical time.
