The authors present efforts by the Environmental Health Research Division of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Health Canada to engage with Indigenous communities and assist them in carrying out community-based research to ensure that their concerns about environmental, social, spiritual, and health impacts associated with the exploitation of local natural resources are addressed in impact assessment processes.
