This document summarizes literature to inform the development of a framework to assist educators in developing curriculum for nursing students to foster cultural competence and safety, particularly in relation to Indigenous contexts. The literature focuses on topics that highlight why a cultural competence framework is needed in nursing education, as well as on key concepts associated with the continuum of cultural safety.
