Cultural Competency as New Racism: An Ontology of Forgetting

2009

Pon, G.

Journal of Progressive Human Services

Description

Situated within the context of child welfare, the author argues that cultural competency is an obsolete view of culture and a new form of racism. He recommends jettisoning it and replacing it with a self-reflexive grappling with racism and colonialism.
