Description

This article attempts to address a knowledge gap related to culturally safe approaches to palliative care by undertaking a review of the literature to identify strategies related to culturally safe approaches to palliative care within rural and small town settings in Canada. The authors identify awareness of colonialism, racism and discrimination, building partnerships, power sharing, and collective decision-making strategies as important cultural safety strategies.
