Description

This article reports findings from the development and pilot-testing of a set of Indigenous health indicators for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community of Washington State. These indicators reflect non-physiological aspects of health on a community scale and use measures that allow for the concerns and priorities of the community to be clearly articulated. The authors argue that incorporating Indigenous health indicators into health assessments will provide a more comprehensive understanding of Indigenous health concerns and assist Indigenous Peoples in controlling their own health evaluations.
