Developed in 2008, this document outlines core competencies that medical students should have when working with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, including the knowledge, skills and attitudes to engage in culturally safe care. The core competencies relate to each of the medical practitioner’s role as medical expert, communicator, collaborator, manager, health advocate, scholar and professional.
