Description

This dissertation reports findings from a study investigating the long-term hydro-ecological changes that have occurred in the Saskatchewan River Delta (SRD) as a result of a hydro-dam project and the implications of these changes on the well-being and adaptation of Indigenous Peoples of Cumberland House. Drawing on both Western and scientific knowledge systems, the study specifically aimed to identify changes to social-ecological systems, assess the cultural and spiritual values of local First Nations and Métis populations derived from the SRD, and examine the adaptive strategies they have used to respond to the changing social-ecological system.
