Description

Hypothesizing that exposure to organochlorine compounds through traditional seafood based diets might be related to bone characteristics that are altered in osteoporosis, the authors investigated the relation between ultrasound parameters at the right calcaneum and plasma organochlorine concentrations among peri- and post-menopausal Inuit women from Nuuk, Greenland. They found little evidence that organochlorine exposure was related to osteoporosis in this population.
