This paper examines the prevalence and determinants of obesity among First Nations children, using First Nations Regional Longitudinal Health Survey data from 2002-03. It utilizes the First Nations Wholistic Policy and Planning Model, a holistic framework that focuses on determinants of health, in its approach to identifying effective health promotion strategies that are comprehensive, based on a community development approach, and address the multi-factorial nature of obesity in First Nations children.
