This study aims to examine the extent to which the non-Indigenous recovery system in Winnipeg makes space for Indigenous healing through the provision of culturally-appropriate services and programs. The authors found an entrenched reluctance, indifference and lack of desire among study participants (staff members from 7 treatment centres) to ensure recovery programs and services are culturally appropriate and discuss the implications of this finding in meeting the needs of urban Indigenous peoples in Canada.
