The feasibility of the interferon gamma release asay and predictors of discordance with the tuberculin skin test for the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection in a remote Aboriginal community

2014

Description

This article reports findings from a study to test the feasibility and predictors of discordance between the tuberculin skin test (TST) and interferon gamma release assays (IGRA) in a remote, medically under-served Inuit population in Nunavut. The study found that use of IGRA was feasible and could result in fewer patients who had previously been vaccinated with BCG requiring treatment for latent TB.
