This article explores how declining caribou populations and a corresponding hunting ban is impacting Inuit in the Nunatsiavut and NanatuKavut regions of Labrador, Canada. It describes the central role that caribou plays for Inuit emotional wellness, identity, and cultural continuity; how the rapidly declining caribou has affected this; and the ways in which Inuit are adapting to these changes.
