Michael McKnight
Strengthening Indigenous-led environmental public health systems
Michael McKnight is an Environmental Public Health Manager with Maskwacis Health Services in Alberta and a member of Samson Cree Nation. He has worked in environmental public health for more than 15 years, supporting programs related to drinking water safety, housing, food safety, and environmental health protection in First Nations communities.
Michael holds undergraduate degrees in Science from the University of Lethbridge and Environmental Health from Concordia University of Edmonton and is a Certified First Nations Health Manager. He is currently completing a Master of Health Studies at Athabasca University and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Public Health at the University of British Columbia.
His work focuses on strengthening Indigenous-led environmental public health systems and supporting Indigenous environmental health professionals working in community.
