Help shape the work of the NCCIH
The National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH) is seeking new members to serve on its Advisory Committee. We invite expressions of interest from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals across Canada who are committed to improving public health and health equity for Indigenous Peoples. The NCCIH is also seeking First Nations, Inuit, or Métis youth between the ages of 18 and 35 who are passionate about the health and well-being of their communities and are interested in leadership.
About the NCCIH
Established in 2005 and hosted by the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, the NCCIH is one of six National Collaborating Centres for Public Health funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
As the only population-based collaborating centre, the NCCIH’s mandate is to strengthen public health systems and support health equity for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples through knowledge translation and exchange. The Centre works to promote public health policy and research that reflects the distinct and diverse needs, experiences, and worldviews of Indigenous Peoples.
About the Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee members draw from their experiences and backgrounds in healthcare and public health to shape the NCCIH near-future and long-term goals. Committee members contribute to the exploration of current health issues, the identification of emerging priorities, and the development of strategic work plans that guide NCCIH activities. Youth members are invited to share their experiences and ideas to help shape the work of the NCCIH and ensure it reflects the realities of Indigenous communities across Canada.
