CLOSING THE CIRCLE
SUMMER 2025
Hadih, my name is Dr. Terri-Leigh Aldred, I am Dakelh a member of the Tl’Azt’En Nation, and part of the Lysiloo (Frog) Clan on my mom’s side and Metis Cree and Mixed European on my dad’s side. I live on the lands of the Lheidli T’enneh people and the home of my relatives. I was born here and grew up all over north central BC. I am a family physician and work with the First Nations Health Authority as a medical leader and clinically with Carrier Sekani Family Services. I have supported many different academic projects and currently sit on the Editorial board of the BCMJ. I am honored to step into the role of Academic Lead for the NCCIH. I hope to build upon the great work that the center has accomplished in the past 20 years and ensure we continue to champion cultural safety, equity, and knowledge translation. I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Deanna Nyce for stepping in as the Interim Academic Lead over the past year and her ongoing support as a member of the NCCIH’s National Advisory Committee. Dr. Nyce supported several key initiatives during her time as the Academic Leader and the center is indebted to her leadership.
