This article examines the prevalence of alcohol, smoking and illicit drug use before, during and after pregnancy among Inuit women from Nunavik, Quebec, as well as factors associated with alcohol use. The authors found that alcohol use was a major risk factor to maternal and child health in this population, highlighting the need for culturally relevant and effective prevention programs.
