The authors analyze data from a retrospective medical chart review of Cree women who had given birth at the Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory to determine whether there are any demographic associations with breastfeeding initiation. The study found several associations with a mother choosing not to breastfeed, including young maternal age, maternal smoking, living location, and low education status.
