The authors present a review of existing theoretical frameworks applied to environmental changes experienced by Indigenous populations. They introduce a new conceptual model that combines the indigenist stress-coping and exposure pathway models to feature sensitivities and cultural buffers, and discuss implications of this new model for public health and social work policy, practice, and research with Indigenous communities.
