This dissertation explores the meaning of innovation in Anishinaabek early learning contexts. The dissertation is organized into four key parts: 1) hope (vision), which focuses on Indigenous Knowledge, Indigenous Pedagogy, Decolonizing Education, and Indigenous research methodologies; 2) belonging (relationship), which focuses on the principles of innovation in Indigenous early childhood education and hopes for the future; 3) meaning (knowledge), which summarizes key learning about decolonizing education and wholistic learning models; and 4) purpose (action), which offers recommendations for fostering innovation in Indigenous early learning contexts.
