This framework aims to improve mental wellness outcomes for First Nations by strengthening federal mental wellness programming, supporting appropriate integration between federal, provincial and territorial programs, and establishing a continuum of care. The framework is supported by Indigenous culture, values, and perceptions of health and well-being. The development of a coordinated, comprehensive approach to mental health and addictions programming is intended to address gaps in services, through collaboration and comprehensive planning, as well as cultural safety within those services. The framework is intended to work at local, regional and national levels.
