The authors describe findings from a study that aimed to determine lead levels in maternal and cord blood at birth and infant blood at 4 months and assess dietary influence on lead status. The study found that traditional animal food intake correlated significantly with cord blood lead levels, especially from wild fowl, which may reflect the legacy of using lead-containing ammunition.
