Description

Indigenous Awareness 101 is an eLearning course that aims to promote an increased understanding about Indigenous Peoples in Canada for police officers, specifically the Vancouver Police Department. It is comprised of three modules: an introduction that provides an overview of different legal frameworks designed to improve relationships between state agencies and Indigenous Peoples; a module on colonization that explores the histories, cultures, and relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples in Canada; a module on the impact of colonization; and a module on strategies for better engaging with Indigenous Peoples and moving towards decolonization, cultural humility, and allyship.
