2016

Mehl-Madrona, L.

SAGE Journals

Description

Drawing on life stories collected from 54 Aboriginal suicide attempters in northern Saskatchewan, the author identifies key themes that preceded the suicide attempts and common beliefs about death. The author argues that Indigenous knowledge is essential to understand suicide among First Nations youth and should inform the development of suicide prevention interventions in this population.
