Description

The Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council was established as a collective governance model for maintaining the spiritual, cultural, and environmental health of the catchment area. This article provides a critique of water resource development and presents the Council as an alternative model of governance developed by Indigenous leaders of West Kimberley to address challenges with the existing governance model.
