Cultural competence, safety and humility are imbedded throughout the guidelines through framing the guidelines within a cross-cultural framework, establishing ‘cultural safety’ as a goal for practitioners, identifying stepping stones in a process towards cultural safety founded on cultural humility, and identifying barriers to cultural safe practices and ways to promote it across diverse cultures and genders.
