The authors established a cohort of offspring of First Nations mothers with onset of type 2 diabetes before age 18 years in Manitoba and collected breastfeeding history and key measurements at study entry and end to determine whether unique gene-environment interactions during intra-uterine and postnatal life were contributing to obesity and type 2 diabetes among First Nations children.
