Outbreaks in the age of syndemics: New insights for improving Indigenous health

2017

Description

This paper argues that conventional approaches for outbreak prevention and control are not always successful within the context of marginalization and disadvantage. A broader approach is needed that examines the systemic factors involved in disease outbreaks, understands how various policies and systems support or hinder effective responses, and identifies needed structural changes to create more supportive environments and increase the population's resilience.
