The Pillars of Life Suicide Prevention Plan was informed by the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations' (2018) Saskatchewan First Nations Suicide Prevention Strategy, as well as the 10 Year Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Saskatchewan (Government of Saskatchewan, 2014) and recommendations from the Advocate for Children and Youth’s (2017) special report, Shhh… Listen!! We Have Something to Say! Youth voices from the North. The strategy recognizes the need for community-driven solutions that take into account local history, economics, and social factors of Indigenous people.
