This article presents findings from a community-based participatory study that aimed to identify barriers and enablers of cultural safety for Atikamekw living with diabetes in Quebec. These were collated into four themes: 1) social determinants of health, 2) health services organization, 3) language and communication, and 4) traditional practices and cultural perspectives of health. The article provides concrete suggestions for addressing diabetes care in a culturally respectful way.
