First Nations Health Authority
This case study tells the story of Keegan Combes, a Skwah First Nation youth whose experience with a series of culturally unsafe encounters with the health system contributed to his unnecesary death on September 26, 2015. The telling of Keegan's story is intended to foster self-reflection among healthcare providers and improve the quality of care Indigenous people receive in BC. The case study concludes by offering recommendations for enhancing culturally safe care.
