Using a critical population health approach, the authors explore determinants of health in rural and remote First Nations and Inuit communities and conceptualize the various pathways by which environmental dispossession have affected these health determinants. The research highlighted the interconnectedness of the physical environment to health and to the maintenance of cultures.
