Description

Drawing from the experience of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre in northern Ontario, this article discusses how traditional and contemporary knowledge and practices have been integrated into a model of care in five key aspects of services delivery to promote genuine cross-cultural competency in health. The article includes an evaluation of initial outcomes, outlines the continuum of program development and implementation of the five core elements, as well as identifies potentially transferable practices.
