This thesis analyzes results from a Child and Adolescents Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment for 178 First Nation children who were referred to a community-based mental health provider between February 2013 and November 2016. It identifies specific mental health intervention needs and explores predictors of mental health needs. The CANS tool consists of 51 items rated on a 0 to 3 likert-type scale with seven open-ended comment sections divided into six domains (mental health, risk behaviours, family and caregiver needs, functioning, care intensity and organization, and individual strengths).
