The authors conducted a study clinically examining the majority of eligible, mostly preschool, children in the Inuvik Region in 2004-2005 and interviewing parents and caregivers to measure their oral health status and its impacts and determinants. The study identified the prevalence of dental caries among the children and the health and social impacts of this condition, as well as protective and risk factors for severe early childhood tooth decay.
