This article discusses the authors' conceptualization of a cultural approach to implementing evidence-based parenting practices with American Indian families that involves two phases: a motivational phase and an intervention phase. The authors then present preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of the intervention phase of the Incredible Years parenting program, including significant pre- and post-improvements in parenting and child behaviour.
