In this article, the authors discuss Indigenous models for behavioral health care and present the Hikairo Rationale, an Indigenous Aotearoa New Zealand model that aims to orient professionals towards cultural responsivity. The authors argue that culturally adapted behavioral therapy treatments are need to improve mental health outcomes for Indigenous populations.
