Description

This background report aims to inform the development of indicators associated with child and youth health and well-being in British Columbia. It provides a review of the literature on children's mental and emotional health, and focuses on 14 concepts associated with this theme clustered into four sub-themes: family functioning, positive mental health, mental illness, and life outlook. For each concept, the authors assess candidate indicators on four characteristics: magnitude, signficance/impact, modifiability, and data availability/validity.
