Description

Responding to calls for trauma-informed teaching models that create cultural safety in the classroom, this article reviews the literature on cultural safety for Indigenous Peoples with the aim of developing such a model for social work education. The resulting model incorporates six aspects of ensuring Indigenous cultural safety: decolonizing social work education, developing collaborative partnerships, building relationships, exercising critical reflection, developing cultural courage, and utilizing yarning and story-telling methods.
