The authors highlight progress over the past five years in the incorporation of cultural safety concepts into optometry curricula in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Specifically, this progress has included incorporation of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing into curricula; understanding of local Indigenous histories and contexts; adoption of online cultural education modules; and clinical placement partnerships with local Indigenous communities.
