Description

This collaborative project, involving researchers at the Centre for Health Leadership & Research, Island Health, the FNHA, and Indigenous Elders and community members, aimed to identify barriers to accessing hospital emergency departments (EDs) in the Port Alberni and Victoria areas through engaging Indigenous residents of these communities in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner. The report highlighted both positive and negative experiences of hospital EDs, and made recommendations to inform the work of Island Health and the Vancouver Island FNHA.
