Description

The authors conducted qualitative interviews with staff working in multidisciplinary teams regarding what they have learned about providing culturally safe maternity care for Indigenous Australians in an urban setting. Thematic analysis revealed four key learnings related to having a shared understanding of cultural safety, understanding and valuing the different roles and knowledge of team members, acknowledging the influence of race and culture on staff behaviour, and acting on responsibilities for continuous improvement towards cultural safety.
