This thesis aims to illuminate the perspectives of nurses in New Zealand about cultural safety. The qualitative study focused on what cultural safety meant to the nurses, why cultural safety was important, and strategies nurses used to promote cultural safety. The study revealed that cultural safety was viewed positively by nurses; however, there were still questions about the theory and its relevance in practice.
