Description

This article aims to address a knowledge gap on the role that environmental health plays in the disproportionate rates of suicide among First Nations in Canada. It examines whether water insecurity, reflected in long-term drinking water advisories, impacts the distribution of suicide among First Nations across Canada and in Ontario. Data did not support any associations between water insecurity and risk of suicide among First Nations at the national level but some potential association was found at the provincial level.
