In this position paper, the co-authors agree to a set of overarching recommendations for providing care to rural and remote women receiving maternity care that includes: receiving high-quality care as close to home as possible; providing rural maternity care that is collaborative, women- and family-centred, culturally sensitive and respectful; and supporting rural maternity care services through active policies that align with these recommendations.
