Modeling the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Communities: Some Considerations

2020

Lavoie, J.G., Romanescu, R.G., Katz, A., & Nickel, N.

Description

The authors present results of a modeling exercise that that aims to estimate the impact of COVID-19 on First Nations. Due to the lack of readily available data, the model assumes homogeneity of First Nations communities, which the authors argue will not allow First Nations communities to plan effectively. Timely and accurate community-based data is needed to support effective pandemic responses that meet the needs of local First Nations communities.
