This thesis examines urban Indigenous providers' experiences with contracting out culturally safe mental health and addictions care in BC to determine whether the contractual arrangements actually fit with the evolving needs, priorities, and contexts of Indigenous communities. The author highlights challenges within these contractual relationships that continue to reinforce colonial and neo-colonial patterns, hindering the ability of contract organizations to develop and deliver effective mental health care services that meet the needs of communities.
